What's with the "alleged"?

On NY news stations, each time they refer to the murder of Eric Garner by NYPD officers, they say he was killed by an "alleged choke hold".

"Alleged"? We've all seen the video of him being taken down by the use of a choke hold applied by an NYPD officer. You see this clearly in the picture above. And the medical examiner has said this was a homicide caused by a choke hold.

So what's with the alleged? I swear, this drives me nuts. Everyone can see the obvious...except the news broadcasters? This use of the word "alleged" by the media is inaccurate and cowardly.

It seems the media is letting us down again. Surprise, surprise.

Oh and I think the lawyers for the broadcast stations have a lot of input into this as well, allegedly of course.

Things will never get better if the media keeps bowing to authority. And it shows no sign of letting up. There are so many problems, and the time is running out to fix them.
