Typo of the day

I found this today in an AP feed:
A bull apparently in no mood for vaccinations led police on a chase down a Texas city street before horse-riding, lasso-yielding officers were able to wrangle the animal.
If these officers should ever come after you, have no fear. Just threaten them with a lasso and they'll collapse like rag dolls. I believe they meant "lasso-wielding" rather than "lasso-yielding". But hey, what's the difference? No one can read anymore.

In which case, never mind.

Gee, I wonder...

A day or two ago, a couple of guys escaped from a Chicago jail. Their photos were all over the news: a white guy and a black guy. So they caught one of them. Here's AP's lede in an article that does not have an accompanying photo:
CHICAGO (AP) — One of two convicted bank robbers who was captured days after a daring escape from a high-rise downtown Chicago federal jail shuffled into a brief court hearing Friday, shackled at the arms and legs.
Gee. I wonder if they caught the black guy or the white guy. Hmmmm. Yes, it's the black guy. I'm sorry, but if you're reporting about an African-American person, you can't say he shuffled. AP fail.

Another inept AP headline

I know they're pressed for space when they write these things, but this just won't do:

Thank goodness the guy was already dead when the bullet hit him. Phew! Close call.

People are such twits about prostitution

People have sex. Get over it. And as for money for sex, what do you think marriage is?

Today's AP article on the four women killed by a serial killer near Jones Beach in NY, is really irritating. Here's their lead paragraph:
The four women were prostitutes in their 20s, advertising their services online, living on the margins of society and not likely to be immediately missed. They appeared to share similar middle-class childhoods, but it is the way they lived their adult lives that has authorities chasing a serial killer. [My emphasis.]
No, AP, it is not "the way they lived their adult lives" that is causing police to chase a serial killer. That's happening because there is a serial killer out there. He did the killing. Don't try and foist blame for their murder on the victims. What a bunch of anti-women prigs AP must be to say such a thing. Ugh. AP, you are disgusting.
