Iran snubs half its population

Today's NYT:

Subjects now open only to men include accounting, engineering and pure chemistry, according to the Iranian news Web site Rooz Online. The University of Tehran, for example, will now accept only male applicants for subjects relating to natural resources, forestry and mathematics. Most petroleum-related subjects have also been made exclusive to men. 

“Some fields are not very suitable for women’s nature,” said Abolfazl Hasani, a senior Iranian education official, according to the Rooz Online report. 

Also note:

Women account for nearly 60 percent of university students in Iran.

Religion poisons everything.

The New York Times has an interesting article today. Excerpt:

WASHINGTON — President Obama is pressing United Nations nuclear inspectors to release classified intelligence information showing that Iran is designing and experimenting with nuclear weapons technology. The president’s push is part of a larger American effort to further isolate and increase pressure on Iran after accusing it of a plot to assassinate Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the United States.

So let's tote this up. Obama cited a ridiculous story about Iran attempting to assassinate a Saudi official on US soil, in order to drum up hostility against that country and much more importantly, to make Obama look manly in the eyes of the rightwing lunatic fringe.  Let me repeat the key phrase I just used: a ridiculous story. And now they're pressuring nuclear inspectors to say that Iran is trying to create nuclear weapons technology. Let's think about this for a moment.

The United States of Terrorists

Here's the lead paragraph from an AP story today:

"A foreign intelligence report says that the control systems of Iran's Bushehr nuclear plant have been penetrated by a computer worm unleashed last year — and is warning of a possible Chernobyl-like disaster once the site becomes fully operational."

The United States planted that worm. Think about it. Can you imagine how we would react if a foreign government inserted a computer worm into our nuclear facilities -- and turned them into potential Chernobyl disasters?

What would we do? We'd go mad, that's what we'd do. Civilized nations do not act this way. Yet this is exactly what the United States has done in Iran -- and it confirms that the United States is the greatest force for terrorism in the world today. I cannot imagine the rage this is causing in Iran.

The United States -- getting more disgusting by the day.
